Bald Eagle shot and killed in Michigan

Law Enforcement needs our help.

Department of Natural Resources investigators are looking for the person who shot and killed a Bald Eagle in Missaukee County's Enterprise Township, MI in February.
Investigators first thought the eagle was electrocuted because it was found below power lines.
Necropsy results came back this week and show the eagle was shot.
Anyone with information should call the DNR Poaching Hotline: 1-800-292-7800.

9 & 10's Ted Haller and Photojournalist Stephanie Adkins explain why the timing of the shooting could not be worse.

Read and see the story here.

We have eagles up at our lakehouse in Northern Wisconsin.  We love to watch them in flight.  It's terrible that someone would have done that.

Jane, good point, you never know. Just hard to believe someone could do such a thing.

Laura, so sad. They are beautiful. The ones in the photo's were taken near where we live. It is a wonderful thing to watch them. So majestic!

Duane, Beautiful pics...sad post. I went on a rafting trip down the Snake River out of Jackson Hole through an Eagle nesting habitat a few years ago. It was awesome! I couldn't imagine the cruelty of some people. I believe there is, or already has been discussion of removing Eagles from the endangered species list.... Do you know anything about that?

Bo, thanks for stopping by. I had heard they were talking about removing the Eagle from the list, let's hope they continue to multiply. Sad part of what happened here is the fact I had heard they mate for life, so it's like losing our wives. Upsetting!

What awesome pictures!  I kept looking at them over and over, those are so neat!  That is really sad about the eagle, I hope they find who did it.

Patricia, thanks. I hope they do to, so far no word on settling the case.

Thanks for stopping by,

Duane
