It's VIII VIII MMVIII the day of Good Luck

Today is 08.08.08 (2008) considered the date of good luck. It's reported that there will be over 9000 weddings in China alone today, with the belief that this is the luckiest day in history.

I'm wishing everyone a lucky day. Believe in luck or not, sometimes different things happen in one's life that has to be attributed to luck.

How about that person who has a 1 in 175,711,536 chance of winning the Lotto and they do. But then we hear about the same person who wins the Lotto twice, the odds are huge. Lucky?

Now take the agent in our office who seems to be the lucky one on floor time when a visitor walks in and is looking to relocate to your city. The buyer is looking to purchase a $500,000.00 house today. Their home is sold and cash in hand. Lucky?

The person who knows how to enjoy life, embrace it, takes in the beauty that has been bestowed upon us. Is that considered Lucky? Maybe, but we all have the opportunity to be who we are. Positive, funky, down, up, happy, sad, creative, out going, successful. I'd say we are Lucky to have these choices.

I feel I'm lucky to have found the special person in my life that I call my Wife (sometimes I call her My Bride). Lucky? Yes, and blessed.

VIII VIII MMVIII the day of Good Luck and I wish you the best! But in reality, every day can be your lucky day if you have life, love and laughter.

Carpe Diem, every day!

That was very interesting and nice Duane.  Have a Happy Crazy 8's Day!

Duane, if you write it 8-8-8 it is the same upside down and backwards. That won't happen again until the year 8008.

BTW, the chinese weddings would have taken place yesterday since it is the 9th there already.

Paddy, thank you and you have a fantastic "crazy 8 day" as well

Mike, great points. You are right, it was yesterday or was it today yesterday, or was it, ahh what ever it was 8.8.08. grin. To much thinking for this morning already.

Duane, You are SO right, some people even try to have their births on this day for luck!  One of my clients is putting in a bid today (she waited) on a home she wants very much, I'm sure hoping she gets it!  Happy 8's to you :)

Duane - I have been across the date line dozens of times and I never am sure whether I am going to or coming from tomorrow or yesterday. However, I am pretty sure whereever I am there I am and it is usually today, except in China where it's tomorrow.

Hi Duane,

Very interesting indeed! Have a great 8th!

Duane- I'm not sure where this quote came from but I always liked it: "Luck is where Preparation meets Opportunity."  Some might just get "lucky" every once in a while, but I think the ones who are consistently "lucky" are so because of their attitude/outlook and quite possibly they just make their own luck happen:-)  Reading your post just makes me realize how lucky I am.  Have a great day!

Duane,

Is it 8-8-8 that's lucky or 08-08-08? Or maybe 08-08-2008 - probably not. I wonder if August 8, 1908 was as lucky - writes the same?

Well last year everyone was intrigued by 7-7-7 (lots of Vegas weddings I heard) - next year it'll be 9-9-9 (year of the cat maybe??), then 10-10-10, then 11-11-11, then 12-12-12, then what? Well we'll think of something else I'm sure. Today has been a lucky day for me though - picked up a new Relo contract!! Enjoyed the post!

Posted by * Rate A Home (Rate A Home) almost 4 years ago

Morning Duane,

I am of the opinion that we make our own luck, however it is also good to believe in something. The power of positive thinking is the key.

(What numbers came in on the lotto?) I don't play so I never think to check.

Posted by Harold (Hal) Place (A1 Connection Realty, Inc.) almost 4 years ago

Hal, no luck on this end with the Lotto, hope the others above got lucky, otherwise no party, pouting.

Duane - I consider myself a very lucky person, with all of the blessings that have been given to me.

However - Yesterday, I took the 8-8-8 thing seriously, went to one of our local casinos, lost my $20!

Posted by Virginia Hepp - Mesquite NV MLS - Sun City Mesquite - 55+ Buyer Representative (ERA - Mesquite NV Homes For Sale) almost 4 years ago

Virginia, LOL, sorry, that was my first response on the casino, argh. Thank goodness for the other blessings of friends, health and love that has been bestowed upon you, the $20.00 you can make back.

Carpe Diem
